Course Description

The Construction Traineeship is a hands-on, full-time program where you learn real construction skills while working on a real project, not just in a classroom. It’s part of a Queensland Government–funded program and is designed to support people who want a fresh start, are new to the workforce, or are looking for a clear pathway into the construction industry.

You’ll train on the job as part of a community construction project at our Westfalen – Collingwood park 4301 project site, where you’ll gain practical, hands-on experience working with tools, materials, and construction equipment. You’ll learn how a work site operates day to day, what is expected of workers, and how to work safely and professionally.

What You’ll Learn

This traineeship gives you a solid introduction to the construction industry, including:

  • What it’s really like to work in construction

  • Different job roles and career options

  • How to work safely on a site

  • How to communicate and work as part of a team

  • How to plan your work and get the job done

  • How to safely use basic tools and materials

You’ll learn by doing, not just sitting in a classroom. All training is built around a real construction project, so you can put your skills into practice straight away.

What to Expect

This traineeship is a full-time job (38 hours a week) on an active work site. That means real expectations:

  • Turn up on time

  • Get involved and have a go

  • Act professionally and respect your teammates
