What is the Conservation and Ecosystem Management traineeship?

This unique traineeship offers project-based work placement, utilising Government funding and resources. It is designed to help long-term unemployed and/or disadvantaged job seekers build both vocational and employability skills, opening up new pathways to meaningful work and further qualifications.

Based in Chapel Hill (4069), trainees will gain hands-on experience in a community-based project where skills and confidence are developed on the job.

What You’ll Learn

As part of the program, you’ll be introduced to the conservation and ecosystem management industry—its culture, career opportunities, and workplace expectations. Training covers:

  • Work health and safety essentials
  • Understanding workplace and industry structures
  • Communication and teamwork skills
  • Natural area conservation support
  • Seed collection and plant identification
  • Routine maintenance of tools and equipment

All training will be undertaken doing a practical conservation and land management project, ensuring your skills are developed in real-world contexts.

What to Expect

This traineeship is a full-time job in a real work environment. Our role is to prepare you for the workforce, so you’ll be expected to demonstrate strong attendance, participation, and professionalism throughout the program.

Period of Traineeship:

20 weeks, 38 hours a week
