CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT

This year’s Annual Report reflects on the exceptional outcomes achieved by our organisation, during some of the most unexpected circumstances our communities have ever faced. We continued to face the challenges of COVID into 2021 whilst also being confronted with the 2022 Southeast Queensland floods.

Led by Chief Executive Officer, Richard Lindner our teams rose to the challenge by working flexibly, to keep our programs focused on providing tailored and individualised approaches to training and employment. The challenges facing the employment, training and education sectors are immense and as always, we will remain agile and responsive. I thank all staff, Management and Board for their achievements and contribution throughout this period – they showed a level of agility and resilience that was critical to our continued success.

CEO’S REPORT

As we transition from some unexpected and challenging years it is a time for us to reflect and build on our learnings for the future. The COVID pandemic tested our agility, and the recent Southeast Queensland floods tested our resilience. We draw inspiration from our local community and the resilience they have shown in the face of some unprecedented years.

It is evident that these challenges will continue to impact the employment and education sectors in the years to come. Community and mission-based organisations like us will continue to navigate the changing demands on our local communities and stakeholders. We remain committed to focusing on individuals’ strengths, assets, and aspirations to assist them to be the best that they can be.

The future of the organisation remains bright as we look to open our inaugural Challenge Trade and Business College in 2023. We look forward to providing education and employment interventions earlier to assist young people to be the best that they can be.

To our Board, our team, and our stakeholders we thank you for your agility, your resilience and your commitment to our participants, our students and our trainees.

‘Confidence has given me life.”

When Kitty first saw our Paid Conservation and Ecosystem Management Traineeship, she knew the opportunity for a career change had arrived. Having worked outside before, she knew it was an industry she would like to be part of.

Due to the mentorship aspect of Challenges Work Pathways, Kitty was well supported to be able to work towards her certificate and confidence in the field.

Angel completed her Certificate I in Conservation and Ecosystem Management and is now loving her job.
